About Southmont

Our Mission

Southmont helps men and boys to become Christian men of virtue and come closer to Christ in their work, study, and other daily occupations.  All of Southmont’s activities are inspired by the message of St. Josemaría Escrivá, the founder of Opus Dei, that God calls everyone to holiness in daily activities.

Through Southmont’s programs, boys and young men develop the values, skills, and attitudes necessary to be effective in college and later on as Catholic fathers, professional men, and citizens. Fathers receive help in raising their sons as young men of virtue and faith while they learn to seek Christ in their daily lives as husbands, fathers, and members of the larger society.

The Christian orientation of Southmont’s programs is entrusted to Opus Deia prelature of the Catholic Church.

Southmont is owned and operated by Southmont Foundation, Inc., a New Jersey not-for-profit corporation formed in 1991. The Internal Revenue Service has determined that the Foundation is exempt from Federal income taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to Southmont are tax-deductible.

Safe Environment

All of Southmont’s activities are inspired by the conviction that every human being is a child of God. Christian charity and profound respect for the dignity of every person should guide all interactions between individuals in all activities of Southmont, especially those with minors. Southmont has zero tolerance for abuse of anyone, particularly minors, perpetrated by any adult or minor in connection with activities of Southmont.

Southmont’s safe environment policies are described in detail in Southmont Foundation: Code of Conduct for Activities involving Minors and in Southmont’s Policy for Responding to Allegations of Abuse of Minors.

Anyone who knows or reasonably suspects that a minor has been abused in connection with any of Southmont’s activities should call Southmont’s reporting helpline, at 646-742-2741.
