Recollections and Meditations
Monthly Recollections
Days of recollection are a sort of mini-retreat. They are an opportunity to pause and reflect prayerfully on our efforts to live close to Christ and to help others come close to him. They consist of a meditation (a preached period of prayer, led by a priest of Opus Dei), a talk on some aspect of practical Christian life given by a layman, an examination of conscience, and time for personal prayer and an opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation.
The morning of recollection ends with Mass. The evenings of recollection includes Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament but not Mass.
When and Where
Ridgewood, NJ
- In the chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (1 Passaic Street, Ridgewood, NJ).
- On the second Wednesday of the month, starting at 7:00 PM and ending at 9:15 PM.
Southmont
- At Southmont, 170 Montrose Ave., South Orange, NJ.
- On the second Thursday of the month , starting at 7:30 PM and ending at 9:15 PM. This evening of recollection is preceded by a buffet supper at 6:30 PM. (Suggested contribution $20).
- On the Saturday following the second Thursday of the month, starting at 7:30 AM and ending at 10:00 AM. A continental breakfast is available at 7:10 AM
- Unforeseen circumstances occasionally require changing the date of one of the recollections, so please check the events page to confirm.

Weekly Meditations
Saturdays at 7:30 A.M. Southmont offers a half-hour meditation via Zoom. When the meditation is preached at Southmont, it is followed by Mass and opportunities for confession and spiritual guidance after Mass.
If you would like to attend in person at Southmont, please contact director@southmont.net to confirm that the meditation will be held at Southmont on the date you are interested in.
